Christian Sievers
Christian Sievers (born December 10, 1969 in Offenbach am Main) is a German journalist and television presenter, known as the main presenter of the ZDF “heute journal”.
After graduating from high school in 1989, Sievers studied law in Berlin and Freiburg and passed the first state examination in law in 1995. While still studying, he worked as a reporter and presenter for various radio stations, including RIAS Berlin and Südwestfunk. In 1996/97 he worked as a Carl Duisberg Society scholarship holder at ABC-TV in New Haven, USA.
Sievers has been working for ZDF since 1997, initially as a presenter and editor for programs such as “heute”, “heute mittag” and “TOP 7”. From 1997 to 2009 he hosted the “ZDF-Morgenmagazin”. From October 2009 to August 2014 he headed the ZDF foreign studio in Tel Aviv and reported as a Middle East correspondent. He then took over moderation of the 7 p.m. “heute” program before becoming the main presenter of the “heute journal” in January 2022.
Sievers received several awards for his journalistic work. In 2009, together with Bettina Schausten, he was awarded the German Television Prize for the best moderation of information. In 2013, “heute journal” received the German Television Prize as the best information program.
In 2017, Sievers published the book “Gray Zones. Stories from the world behind the news,” in which he provides insights into the challenges of modern journalism. At a book signing you could clearly see that Christian Sievers is left-handed: he wrote with his left!
In addition, he also confirmed that he is left-handed with his autograph card.
