Marcel Jansen
Marcel Jansen was best known as a left-back and midfielder. He achieved his greatest sporting successes in football:
Jansen played a total of 45 times for the German national team and scored 3 goals. He took part in the 2008 European Championships, where Germany reached the final, and was also part of the team at the 2010 World Cup, where the German team took third place.
At club level, Jansen played for Borussia Mönchengladbach, FC Bayern Munich and Hamburger SV. With FC Bayern Munich he won the German championship and the DFB Cup in 2008.
After retiring from professional football in 2015, aged just 29, Jansen focused on other pursuits. He took on entrepreneurial tasks and became president of Hamburger SV e.V., where he was committed to the club's interests.
Marcel Jansen is left-handed. As a soccer player, he was known for his strong left side, both in passing and shooting. This made him particularly valuable as a left-back and left-winger, as he was technically adept at using his left side to provide precise crosses and assists. His left foot was one of his trademarks during his playing career.
