Jon Flemming Olsen
Jon Flemming Olsen (1964– ) is a German musician, graphic designer, author, actor, and television presenter. He was born on December 14, 1964 in Düsseldorf. He is best known as co-founder of the country band Texas Lightning, which represented Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in 2006, and for his role as “Ingo” in the comedy series Dittsche.
He began his musical training early: as a child he took music lessons and later learned guitar and vocals. From 1989 he played in various bands (e.g. Welcome Home, Die Sirenen, Die Bietels). With Texas Lightning, he achieved major success with the song No No Never in Germany — over 450,000 copies sold, gold and platinum awards, and 38 weeks on the Media Control charts. Their album Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch … sold nearly 200,000 units. Olsen left Texas Lightning in 2009.
At the same time he developed a career as an actor and television figure: since 2004 he has played the snack stand owner Ingo in the show Dittsche. The show has been awarded the Grimme Prize in Gold and the German Television Award. He also published books such as Der Fritten-Humboldt: Meine Reise ins Herz der Imbissbude and albums as a solo artist (Immer wieder weiter in 2014, Von ganz allein in 2017).
Today, Jon Flemming Olsen resides partly in Schleswig-Holstein and partly in Hamburg. He remains active in music, television, and cultural work, often also engaging in graphic and design projects behind the scenes.
We learned that Jon Flemming Olsen is left-handed from the list on the former Linkshänderseite.DE (Linkshänderseite.DE). It wasn't easy to verify his handedness through photos, concert recordings, or videos. He plays the guitar like a right-hander and is otherwise quite ambidextrous. If you watch various episodes of Dittsche where he plays Ingo, you only occasionally see glimpses of his left-handedness, for example, when he crosses his arms in front of his body with his left hand resting on his right arm. We only have definitive confirmation since we received his autograph card.
