Toni Kroos

Toni Lukas Kroos (born 4 January 1990) is a German former professional footballer, best known for his distinguished career as a central midfielder. He was celebrated for his precision passing, game intelligence, and set-piece prowess. Over his career, he amassed numerous domestic and international honors.

Kroos began his professional career at Bayern Munich after progressing through youth systems. He spent a loan period at Bayer Leverkusen before returning to Bayern, where he won Bundesliga titles, DFB-Pokal trophies, and the UEFA Champions League. In 2014, he transferred to Real Madrid, where he won several Spanish league championships, domestic cups, and multiple Champions League titles, totaling over 30 club trophies in his career.

For the German national team, Kroos earned over 100 caps. He was part of Germany’s 2014 World Cup–winning squad, where he made key contributions, including scoring twice in the semifinal against Brazil. In his youth, he earned honors such as the “Golden Player” at the U-17 European Championship and the Golden Ball at the U-17 World Cup. In 2024, he announced his retirement from professional football and played his final club and international matches.

Kroos is regarded as a paradigm of the modern playmaking midfielder and leaves behind an extraordinary legacy. Even after retiring, he remains involved in football projects and social initiatives.

He can be seen in several pictures signing autographs, holding his pen in his left hand and writing with it. Toni Kroos's left-handedness has been a frequent topic of discussion in the press, and it's not even about football. He often played handball with his brother. His left-handed throws were feared. His mother – a former East German badminton champion – once posted a video online of herself playing badminton with Toni. Here, too, he uses his left hand.
